DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN LEGAL STUDIES

COURSE SUMMARY The Doctor of Philosophy in Legal Studies is a 3-year research-based program offered by Africa School of Politics and Governance at ASPG University. The program is delivered 100 percent online to students across Africa and globally. This PhD focuses on the 20 core specializations of law practiced by lawyers worldwide, including constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, and international law. Year 1 builds foundational knowledge of legal doctrine and the social, political, and economic effects of law. Year 2 provides a comparative analysis of human law against Constitutional Law and God’s Law as the moral benchmark. Year 3 is dedicated to original research, where students develop a thesis and a practical policy roadmap for legal reform in Africa and beyond. The program combines academic rigor with real-world application. Graduates will be equipped to serve as legal scholars, policy advisors, judges, senior attorneys, and reform leaders.
